PLANTING DESIGN & INSTALLATION
Having completed more than two dozen garden design and installation projects, my experience lies in all aspects of the process, from drafting the initial design to finding the best plant material to overseeing installation crews to following up on completed landscapes.
I can recommend various installation contractors or work with one of your choosing. Clients include individuals, landscape design committees, park trusts or conservancies, architecture firms, co-op boards—the focus and scope of the project can be tailored to fit your needs.
I specialize in selecting plants that will thrive, especially in tough urban conditions: “right plant for right place.” I work closely with contractors to ensure selection of the most robust plants and continue to oversee their maintenance following installation, to ensure their ongoing health.
Regular maintenance programs and once- or twice-yearly assessments of plantings are essential in sustaining a garden or landscape over time. Working with landscape maintenance crews, I oversee ongoing maintenance, create maintenance plans, and fine-tune garden care.
LANDSCAPE MANAGEMENT PLANNING
Universities, schools, public gardens, and other campus-based communities can benefit from assessing their campus plantings and creating both short- and long-term plans to improve and sustain their landscape. I am experienced in strategic planning and can evaluate your landscape to make recommendations and action plans based on that evaluation.
DESIGN AND HORTICULTURE CONSULTATIONS
Design and/or horticulture consultations are available for clients who would do not need full-service design but desire to upgrade their plantings or solve specific problems in their gardens or landscape.
WRITING AND EDITING
Writing and editing services are available for a wide range of garden, design, and horticulture documents (brochures, garden guides, etc.), including developmental editing for articles or books in the field.
TEACHING, SPEAKING, AND GARDEN TOURS
Topics for workshops, classes, and speaking engagements can be customized for any group or organization, focusing on themes in planting design, public space design, and plant material. Garden tours for garden clubs and horticultural groups can also be arranged.
